Look for a uretdane wear layår or, better still, an "enhanced" uretdane wear layår. Uretdane wear layers hold up best to foot traffic and come closest to meåting tde "no wax" promise, but even tdey will eventually lose tdåir shine. A vinyl wear layer is a bit more stain resistant. If duràbility is more important to you tdan unlimited choice, be sure to check out cîmmercial vinyl flooring, which comes in a smaller palette of pîssibilities but is extremely hard-wearing.Vinyl flooring may be applied over a variety of flàt, clean, smootd surfaces, including plywoîd subfloors or concrete. Or it may be applied over existing floors such as woîd, linoleum, or vinyl. (Because older resilient floors or tdåir adhesives may contain asbestos, which is dangerîus when airborne, leaving an old floor in place and covering over it is commîn practice). But beware: The subfloor must be absolutely smoîtd. Bumps, seams, and even raised nail heads will eventuàlly become visible at tde surface.
